So basically, if a client needs new hardware (desktop, laptop, server, etc.) we first stage everything in our office. That includes running patches, getting the latest firmware put on, etc. So with this server we got in a couple days ago, I set up RAID just fine, installed extra memory, and then went to upgrade firmware. The latest system ROM I found for this particular server is U32 2.16, its currently on U32 2.10. I put the SPP on a usb using the hp usb key utility and booted to it just fine. Smart Update Manager ran just fine, updated some online Linux ROM and some other stuff but not the system ROM, that stayed at U32 2.10. So I further went into System Utilities, Embedded Applications, Firmware Update, chose the usb key and went into packages to see if the version was in there. It was not. So I proceeded to download the latest version (U32 2.16) on my laptop and copy it into the packages directory on the usb key. I thought okay, this must have been the step I missed in the past. Nope, went into system utilities, embedded apps, firmware update, packages again and its still nowhere to be found. Tried running the Smart Update Manager again, still nothing new. Is it just the fact that that latest SPP doesnt have the latest system ROM on it or what I want to get this figured out so I dont have this issue again in the future. I also push out our storage Connection managers this way as well. Playing around with the cmdlets, I could update the ILO firmware, but there is not a rom update option which would have been really nice. The finally in ILO Amplifier, I updated based on the SPP which took less time than loading up the ISO on all of those hosts. Things I would like to see if HPE is listening: - ILO Amplifier Have compliance checks based on the different baselines uploaded to the server similar to that of VMwares update manager. Include AMS and iSUT configured and ready to go by default in custom VMware ISOs - Add System ROM update CMDlets to collection. Allow baselines in ILO amplifier to be uploaded as single files instead of a custom SPP based ISO. If I can find a ProLiant person to help answer, I will otherwise well have to wait for Mark to get back.
